Patch test first. Apply a small amount behind the ear or inner forearm and wait 24–48 hours if you’re new to retinol.
At the essence/serum stage of your routine, pump 1–2 times, spread evenly, and let absorb. Start with every 2–3 nights, then gradually increase frequency as tolerated.
Follow with moisturizer; during the day use broad-spectrum SPF since retinol increases sun sensitivity. (Avoid layering with strong AHAs/BHAs or other actives on the same night.)
If irritation (redness, stinging, flaking) occurs, reduce frequency or pause and consult a dermatologist.
